Andrew Cooper is the Head of On-Site Renewables at the Renewable Energy Association and a Board Member of Yorkshire Energy Services. He has worked forYorkshire and Humber Assembly and both Calderdale and Kirklees Councils on projects to tackle Fuel Poverty and promote renewable energy. He has established many schemes including one that provides free insulation to all private householders in Kirklees and established the Council's Renewable Energy Fund which has enabled them to make Huddersfield one of the country's biggest producers of solar electricity.

Andrew was elected as a Green Party Councillor in Kirklees in 1999 and has been re-elected 3 times. He was responsible for the Cabinet Housing portfolio between 2003 and 2006.
