REA Staff
Paul Thompson
Paul is the REA's Biofuels policy advisor.
Paul joined the REA in January 2008. His work includes lobbying politicians, civil servants and NGOs, as well as trying to rebalance the debate on biofuels in the media.
The government’s plans for directly linking the RTFO to GHG savings and only rewarding biofuels that meet mandatory sustainability criteria will mean major policy work over the months and years ahead. All of this will need to fit into the framework of whatever emerges in the Renewable Energy Directive.
Paul was previously Parliamentary researcher for Susan Kramer, MP, during which time she was Liberal Democrat spokesperson for both DTI and Transport. He was lead researcher for a number of pieces of legislation – including the RTFO order, Crossrail Bill and the Consumers, Estate Agents & Redress Bill.
