The Biogas Group is specifically focussed on the production of biogas

The REA UK Biogas Group

The Group represents the UK Biogas Group in the UK.  There are currently over 130 members of whom over 50 regularly attend the bi-monthly meetings in London.   These meetings offer an ideal opportunity to network, and to take part in influencing the major issues affecting the nascent UK Biogas industry, which is on of the fastest expanding sectors of  the renewable energy sector.

Subject to the bye-laws, any REA member is able to participate in the Biogas Group

Projects and ongoing work:

The Biogas Group work programme outlines current sub-groups and those who have volunteered to work in them. 

Major Projects ongoing now:
Bioenergy
  • Establishment of the Biofertiliser Certification Scheme through Renewable Energy Assurance Ltd.
  • Environmental Permits for Anaerobic Digestion
  • Electricity Feed-in tariffs
  • Biomethane to grid injection
  • Renewable Heat Incentive
  • Training & Competence in AD industry  
  • Meetings and events

    Meetings of the Biogas Group are held every two to three months in London.   The next meeting is on Thursday 21st October 2010 from 10.45am - 2.30pm at the CMK Cameron McKenna offices near Barbican underground station, London.  Please notify Natasha Lancaster on nlancaster@r-e-a.net or David Collins on dcollins@r-e-a.net to register for this meeting. 

    The annual event relevant to this sector group is the Bio-Energy conference.  This two day event brings together all sectors of the industry.
