7th British Renewable Energy Awards Thursday, 21st June 2012
The REA runs these annual Awards to celebrate the achievements of companies and individuals who have done most to further renewable energy in the UK. The Awards were inaugurated in 2006 to honour achievements in the British renewable energy sector.
The Awards have become one of the most prestigious highlights in the industry's calendar, recognising and honouring companies and individual achievements from the full range of renewable technologies across all applications. For a hard-working and highly committed industry that faces more than its fair share of challenges in the UK, this is our night of celebration and glamour.
Our prestigious judges will decide the winners in each of the 9 categories and last year 350 guests from industry, media and government gathered together to recognise these outstanding accomplishments and network with their peers.
This year’s Gala Dinner will be held at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, London SW1 on Thursday 21st June to pay tribute to the best in British renewables. Book now to avoid disappointment.
Thank you to our sponsors:

The REA is pleased to announce several changes to the Awards categories this year including the Judges Award which will be decided by our impressive lineup of judges.
Community - for a community group which has been active in developing a community renewable energy project or programme of renewable installations in their locality during 2011.
Flagship Project - for a company that has developed an outstanding renewables project. This may be a building integrated project, an on-site development or a particularly noteworthy stand-alone project.
Installer - for a company which has excelled in the installation of on-site renewable equipment.
Journalist - for a broadcast, broadsheet, or online commentator who has excelled in the communication of renewable energy.
Manufacturer / Employer - for a company which has noteworthy manufacturing facilities for renewable energy equipment, components or fuels or is making other products but is using its own on-site renewable energy source, or perhaps has improved its environmental performance by introducing some other process technique involving renewables, or has encouraged renewables through its supply chain.
Pioneer - for an organisation outside the sustainable energy industry, pioneering the use of renewable fuels, heat or power.
Political Leadership - for a national, regional or local politician who has made an outstanding contribution to advancing UK renewables.
Technological Innovation - for any innovative, new, renewable energy conversion device, invention or application which has achieved a major milestone or reached the market since 2011.
The Judges Award - we have decided to replace the former Champion Award with a special Judges Award this year. It is anticipated that the judges will mainly consider lifetime achievement, but the award could conceivably be given for any other outstanding contribution to renewables not covered by the above categories. Judges are happily accepting suggestions of names for this category.

Initial nominations can be made on-line via a simple form here. You can nominate anyone (including yourself or your company) for any Award so, nominate yourself or your company, or nominate someone else who you feel has done something amazing for the renewables industry in the past year! Nominations close on Friday, 9th March 2012.
Nominations are now closed.
The British Renewable Energy Awards have a distinguished panel of judges with wide experience across the energy and related sectors. These judges consider all the nominations and narrow them down to short-lists of typically (but not necessarily) 5 to 9 nominees for each Award.
The short-listed nominees are then invited to complete a fuller entry (in two pages with images), closing in May. The judges will then meet to select the winner and any runners-up in each category.
