Advocate Award

The NGO, campaign, publication or association that has done most to enhance awareness of renewables in the public and/or key opinion formers.

2009 Winners

For the first time in the history of the awards the judges found two entries which both deserved to win and decided upon two winners.

The RE-Charge Scheme (Kirklees Council)

Who introduced the first scheme of its kind in the UK to provide interest free loans to homeowners for renewable technologies, repaid when the house is sold.

Renewable Tariff Campaign (Friends of Earth and the Tariff coalition.)

Who built an impressive coalition of supporters for renewable energy feed-in-tariffs. working with Lords and MP's led by Alan Simpson; the campaign overturned previous government policy and got into the Energy Act.

Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership for their leadership on Carbon and Sustainibilty reporting.
