Scottish Enterprise Energy Group & Highlands and Islands Enterprise have announced that they will fund the development of a product standard for the fertiliser produced from biogas plants.

By giving farmers and their customers confidence in “Biofertiliser” the standard will promote the safe re-cycling of organic material to land. The Biofertiliser standard will help to lift a major barrier to the development of a Biogas Project on the Island of Westray, Orkney. It will also boost other plants planned for Scotland.

The Renewable Energy Association is running the project that will develop the product standard.
