REA projects and data

The REA is active in various projects of relevance to the renewable energy sector and in collecting and providing data relevant to the industry.

Projects

The currently active projects in which the REA is involved are listed in the tabs on the left. These include projects undertaken on an EU-wide basis and partly funded by the European Commission.

Much of the policy development work of the Association is dependent on data provided by members or collated for the REA by specialist consultants. Some current and recent examples are:

The renewable resource potential in the UK

Assessed by consultants IPA in June 2006 to inform the industry's input to the Energy White Paper and the Renewable Energy Strategy.

Members' survey on employment in decentralised renewables

Undertaken in early 2009 through on online questionnaire to inform the REA's proposals on the potential for renewables within an envoronmental stimulus package.

Members' survey on effect of the recession

Undertaken in March 2009 through an online survey to support the industry's request for measures to ensure the sector was fit to participate fully in the anticipated sustainable economic recovery.

National benefits of meeting 2020 sustainable energy targets

An assessment by consultants Delta Energy and Environment of the financial benefit to 'UK Plc' in meeting the 2020 energy saving and renewables targets, especially in balance of trade terms from avoided fossil fuel imports.
