Meeting the low carbon skills challenge

REA consultation response

This consultation seeks views on how to meet the skills shortage in low carbon jobs.

The UK in 2008 had less than 2% energy from renewable sources, achieving 15% renewable energy domestically by 2020 will create tremendous economic opportunities. In the past there has not been enough emphasis on the skills and training area, government must now ensure that its support and strategy for skills and training matches its ambition for reducing carbon and increasing renewable deployment. There could be huge growth in the number of people working in high quality, sustainable jobs by 2020. Action is needed now for training and investment to realise that potential.
