Renewable Energy Tariffs
Tariff design engagement
Developing the industry’s input into the design of the Electricity and Renewable Heat Tariffs
Now that the enabling legislation is in place, the process of working up the detailed arrangements begins. Of course the REA will continue to play a key role in this. The small-scale electricity Tariff has to be implemented in April 2010, and we’d like to see the Renewable Heat Incentive on that timescale too.
Accordingly we have established the following working groups, which are described further using the relevant tabs on the left. To maximise co-ordination between the groups, a common terminology is being established. There will be plenty of opportunity for members to give feedback throughout the process of our own internal consultation, and then again through DECC’s consultation process.
Co-ordination and user groups
RETa0 - Coordination group
Ensuring that the activities of the working groups are co-ordinated and engaging with officials from DECC and Ofgem
RETu4 - User perspective
A working group established by the RET campaign coalition, considering the best ways to make the tariffs work for prospective beneficiaries.
Groups considering the Renewable Electricity Tariff
RETe1 - Supplier interface
The processes for paying the electricity tariffs through the electricity supply companies
RETe2 - Tariffs and thresholds
The tariffs, thresholds and other issues applicable to each electricity generation technology
RETe3 - Treatment of CHP
Interfaces between the electricity tariffs and heat tariffs and between these tariffs and the RO for CHP plant
Groups considering the Renewable Heat Incentive
RETh1 - Supplier interface
The processes for paying the electricity tariffs through the oil and gas supply companies
RETh2 - Tariffs
The tariffs and other issues applicable to each heat generation technology
RETh3 - Biomethane
Design of the heat tariffs to enable incentives for biomethane
Use the tabs on the left to access the individual activities of any of these groups, and the overview section for details about the overall process and common outputs and terminology.
