Renewable Heat Tariffs

Tariffs payable to energy users generating their own renewable heat

Renewable heat tariffs called 'Renewable Heat Incentive' are to be introduced in the UK following the inclusion of enabling powers in the Energy Act 2008. Renewable electricity tariffs are also scheduled to be introduced and the common aspects between these two measures are described here and FAQs about the tariffs are listed here.

These tariffs are still being designed, and government intends that they will be introduced one year after the Renewable Electricity Tariffs in April 2011 following their proposed timetable.

Eligibility

The tariffs will apply to systems of all sizes with no upper limit.

All common forms of renewable energy generation have been included.

Tariff levels

Tariff levels will be set fo each eligible technology.

Biomethane injection

Tariffs will also be established for biomethane injected into the grid.
