Reading RG1 2LU

Overview:

The REA is once again hosting a two-day training course for members (and non-members) on the key health and safety information required at composting and AD sites. The course is primarily aimed at managers and supervisors, but it would also be beneficial to consultants and others working within the biological treatment sector. It supports the HSEs strategy of managing risk well and supporting small employers by giving simple advice, so SMEs know what they must do. Attendees will leave the course better informed about their legal obligations but also with practical steps they can take to make their sites safer and healthier places to work in.

Course details:

• 13 hours tuition time (over 2 days)
• Nine key elements within the course including:

  1. Health and safety Foundations
  2. How to manage health and safety effectively
  3. General workplace health and safety
  4. Machinery and other work equipment
  5. Transport
  6. Electricity
  7. Fire
  8. Health risks
  9. Operational issues

• 30-minute exam (multiple choice) –  which will be taken at the end of day two. (Pass rate 72%)
• An assignment (risk assessment) to be returned within 10 working days of the course. It is expected that this would take a maximum of 2 hours to complete.  This element will be marked by a qualified assessor. (Pass rate of 60%)
