Contract
10 hours per week for an initial period of 6 months, after which the scope of the post and number of hours will be reviewed.
Main purpose of the job
The post holder will be responsible for planning a hardwood supply chain from farm and estate woodlands and other sustainable sources in North East England.
Main responsibilities
• Build positive relationships with private and public sector woodland owners using phone, email and in-person meetings.
• Identify and document hardwood timber resources across the region.
• Construct GIS record of identified resources using Google Maps and associated apps.
• Develop models for encouraging the long-term supply of sustainable timber to the planned carbonisation plant.
re:heat are inviting applications for the post of Carbonisation Supply Chain Planner. He/she will need to be enthusiastic, resourceful, organised and demonstrate the ability to connect with farmers, foresters, estate owners and other land managers.
The post is part time, 10 hours per week for an initial 6 month period, after which we anticipate the role will broaden and the working hours will increase.
The salary is £25,000 (pro rata) paid monthly in arrears.
Skills/competencies
• Good knowledge of woodland and land management and legislation.
• Project management skills and proven ability to meet targets and deadlines.
• Good IT skills.
• Evidence of a strong drive and ambition to succeed for the benefit of all stakeholders.
• Ability to engage effectively with audiences, but particularly farmers, foresters and land managers.
• A good team player able to work collaboratively with others both within and outside the organisation.
Qualifications
(desirable) A further or higher education qualification in forestry, arboriculture, countryside management, ecology or environmental science.
Full UK driving licence.
Experience
Previous experience working in a forestry or land-based organisation in the commercial, government or voluntary sectors.
