Large Scale Power & Markets – who should join?
Any organisation which is involved in renewable electricity generation for delivery to the grid. Large Scale Power & Markets does not serve a particular technology or renewable resource, but is a group which cuts across all power generation technologies. As a market-based group, there is inevitably linkage with a number of the REA’s technology-focussed sector groups.

When required, the group is assisted by REA technology specialists as well as drawing on the wide experience contained within the group’s members.
This group focuses on issues which might affect the Renewable Power Markets – particularly those which might damage investor confidence. It considers and argues for changes which might improve the operation of the market and also looks very carefully at proposed amendments to the legislation, such as those made in the Amendment orders or in the various Reviews. The group has looked at the traded market for ROCs (Renewables Obligation Certificates) and has led to the development of a number of other interventions to improve the efficiency and confidence in the ROC market. It also closely looks at network issues and any changes proposed to the energy market.
A major focus is the ongoing process of grid access and charging reforms across the numerous committees and oversight bodies.
Meetings and events
Meetings of Large Scale Power & Markets are generally held twice a year, in addition to ad hoc meetings for specific issues.
