Yesterday BEIS published a consultation on a Green Gas Levy, a levy on licensed gas suppliers that will fund support for biomethane injection into the gas grid through the new Green Gas Support Scheme. Proposals for the future Green Gas Support Scheme to support biomethane injection were set out in BEIS consultation on the future of low carbon heat released in April 2020. Our response to this consultation can be found here. BEIS are currently analysing responses and aim to publish a Government Response this winter.
