Online Members Roundtable: REA Engagement on the Government’s New Biomass Strategy 2022

Last month the Government announced a new commitment to delivering a revised Biomass Strategy for the UK, in line with the recommendation of the Committee on Climate Change and building on the REA’s own industry-led Bioenergy Strategy, published last year.

The strategy is expected to be published in 2022 and its development will be a cross-Whitehall workstream, examining bioenergy use in power, heat and transport.

Government departments have already made clear that they hope to engage REA members next year in the development of this strategy, and we expect that feeding into its development will be a critical part of our work in 2021.

With this in mind, the REA is running a members-only roundtable on the 8th December (15.00 – 16.30), online, in order to discuss our approach to this new strategy. We will highlight the work we have already done and how we propose to engage with Government over the next 12 months. The roundtable will be an opportunity for members to highlight key areas they believe the REA should be looking at to inform the new strategy and provide input as we set out our plans.

The roundtable is open to all Bioenergy members of the REA including the Wood Heat Forum, Biomass UK, Renewable Transport Fuels Forum, Biogas Forum, Waste to Energy and Landfill Gas.

Agenda: December 8th, 15.00 to 16.30

  • Overview of the Governments Biomass Strategy 2022 Announcement and why it’s important
  • REA activities welcoming the Strategy
  • Intended activities in 2021
  • Discussion on membership engagement to help inform the associations’ response to the Biomass Strategy

This will be a virtual event and is free to REA members. Joining instructions will be sent to those who register.

If you experience any difficulty in registering for the webinar through the membership portal please email Luana Minutella.
