REA Energy Levy Member’s Townhall
The government has announced an Energy Generator Levy, meaning a 45% levy will be applied to low-carbon generation. It will target revenues from low-carbon generation sold at above £75 per MWh, on returns exceeding £10mn and apply to generators (or commercial groups of generators) whose output exceeds 100GWh per annum. The REA are holding an all-member townhall to discuss the proposals this Thursday 24th at 9:00am. Please register at the link below.
The REA are in direct contact with Treasury officials concerning this policy and are keen to understand the impacts arising from last weeks announcement from across our membership and technologies we represent. We are also compiling a list of questions for clarification which we intend to put to Treasury by the end of the week. As such please do join us on Thursday morning to discuss this latest policy issue.
We strongly believe this decision sends the wrong signals to investors by taxing renewables. You can read the REA’s statement on the energy levy and other announcements from the Autumn Statement here.
The REA team is in the process of collating case studies and other evidence to present to Government. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions or to provide feedback on how the plans may your business. A member survey on these proposals will also be going out shortly, so please do look out for this and reply as soon as you are able to.
Details to join the meeting will be sent to those who register above. We look forward to seeing you then.
