On the 6th of September, the REA and Severn Trent Water co-hosted a member meeting and site visit at the Finham Wastewater Treatment Works plant.

At the member meeting, attendees heard presentations from REA on policy and regulatory updates, REAL on their certification schemes, and Severn Trent on bioresources recycling. Download a PDF of each presentation below:

After the member meeting, Lee gave attendees a great tour of the Finham site. The site is one of the top six largest sewage works in the Severn Trent portfolio, serving more than 500,000 people. It produces 45,000 tonnes of Biosolids annually and contains a newly installed Thermal Hydrolysis plant. From 2025 to 2030, Severn Trent plans to expand the plant to accommodate the additional loading of thousands of new homes built in the catchment area. Thank you Severn Trent Water for hosting, and to all our members who attended. The REA Organics team is keen to host more site visits in the future. If you’d be willing to host a site visit or know someone who would, please contact us.
