Just before Christmas, the Government published it’s Draft Legislation and Supplementary Technical Note concerning the Electricity Generator Levy (EGL). This follows the EGL announcement in the Autumn Statement, which set out plans to introduce a new temporary 45% tax on ‘extraordinary returns’ from low carbon generation, due to be in place from the 1st January 2023 to 31st March 2028.
