Energy Transition Series: Consumers

ENERGY TRANSITION SERIES: CONSUMERS

Series of webinars organised by PES GB and REA
On-line weekly EVENING sessions | May through July 2021 | 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm

Following the PES GB’s successful first webinar series held over the summer 2020 (with its main aims to increase the awareness of its members of the spectrum of industries operating in the UK to deliver clean energy (zero net greenhouse gases), the REA and PES GB are hosting a webinar series delving deeper into the Energy Transition story.

Taking a lead from the UK Government’s Energy White Paper “Powering our Net Zero Future” (published at the end of 2020) and its net zero commitments, this series of “in conversation” webinars will explore how these goals could be achieved and will look closer at the policies and regulations needed to support this important ambition. The Secretary of State of the Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) described the Energy White Paper as reinforcing the Prime Minister’s Ten Point Plan that puts net zero and the UK’s effort to fight climate change framework at its core. This has significant implications for the oil and gas sector as well as for the fast-growing renewable energy and clean technology opportunities.

This webinar series is being delivered by industry bodies representing oil and gas and renewable energy and clean technologies – industries that will drive the transition and whose membership are impacted by the vision of how this will be achieved by government and industry alike. One matter that is no longer debated is the important acknowledgement for the need to grow skills and a valuable work force to deliver this. Winning the implicit support of the respective membership groups will facilitate this change.

Using the “Chapter Headings” of the Energy White paper itself, a series of nine webinars is scheduled with invited experts as panellists to help “get under the skin” of the strategic goals laid out in each chapter. We aim to focus on delivery of projects and what it means for individuals, business, and society as a whole. Each webinar will last around an hour with an “in conversation” format with the panellists to be held in an informative and engaging way. There will be a chance for participants to send in questions ahead of the webinar to help shape the questions to be posed to the expert panellists.
