Energy Transition Series: Transport

ENERGY TRANSITION SERIES: TRANSPORT

Series of webinars organised by PES GB and REA
On-line weekly EVENING sessions | May through July 2021 | 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm

Following the PES GB’s successful first webinar series held over the summer 2020 (with its main aims to increase the awareness of its members of the spectrum of industries operating in the UK to deliver clean energy (zero net greenhouse gases), the REA and PES GB are hosting a webinar series delving deeper into the Energy Transition story.

The Energy White Paper announced 6 drivers for policy

  1. A shift to public transport
  2. Place based solutions (optimising local transport networks)
  3. Decarbonising how we get our goods (supply chain decarbonising)
  4. Decarbonising vehicles
  5. Innovation
  6. Export to the global economy

A suite of incentives and grants have been announced to support these drivers.

The webinar will pull together leading representatives from the car industry, Electric Vehicle charge points, and aviation/marine sectors to discuss their response to the White Paper. Upper most in all our minds are questions about the pace of change and the effectiveness of the proposed policy to stimulate the change.

WEBINAR SCHEDULE | 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm

Thursday 10 June 2021 – Transport – understanding the six strategic priorities on the journey to deliver a Net Zero Transport system

Speaker: John Baldwin, Managing Director, CNG Services Ltd

John spent 25 years in fossil gas (BGE&P, Transco), and entered renewables in 2008 with focus on biomethane injection into the gas grid, at CNG Services Ltd.

CNG Services has worked on around 80 of the biomethane projects completed in GB and now has particular focus in taking Bio-CNG made from manures out of the gas grid to fuel trucks. By using manures as the feedstock and capturing all the CO2 from the biogas, each project aims for 200% GHG reduction compared to diesel. Quiet and very low NOX.

The company was winner of Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation in Biomethane in 2016
